About Pilot Creative Services:
Pilot Creative Services, a boutique, full-service management company based in Brooklyn, is the brainchild of
James Johnson. The company, which culls together all aspects of creative works, mirrors Johnson's own background, an eclectic history of artistic and business endeavors that prepared him to launch one of the most successful companies in music today.
Johnson has always mediated a balance between art and business. As he grew up learning about marketing and branding from his father Johnson also became a talented competitive violinist, finding that he had the mind for both sides of the musical spectrum. In 2004, Johnson moved to Williamsburg, Brooklyn with the intention of creating an umbrella company that would encapsulate all creative undertakings. The aim was to build a freelance collective of artists spearheaded by Johnson-something he has now achieved.
While constructing Pilot Creative, Johnson has added several other experiences to his diverse resume of accomplishments. He spent 2005 working as a consultant for a high-end fashion line in Italy; he brought into a German car company where he designed cars and ran North American sales; and in 2006 he went to Kingston, Jamaica to record as singer James Singleton. Johnson later appeared onstage with Spank Rock and recorded material with Disco D, as well as legendary MC Rakim under the name Jimmy James. Rumor has it he is also featured on Neon Hitch's debut album.
The major turning point for Johnson was the relationship he built with artist Disco D, whom he met in 2006. Johnson and D began developing a young artist named Benny Blanco and following D's death in 2007, Johnson decided to pour all his efforts into fashioning an atmosphere of creative stimulation and brotherhood so musicians had the support system they needed within his company.
Since then Pilot Creative has become both a powerhouse and a boutique, relationship-based collective. Now boasting a roster of 12 clients, Pilot Creative offers unique services to its clients, including a full recording studio that's free to its clients, a writing room, staff vocal coaches, photography and stylist services, and, most importantly, an open, trusting atmosphere. With artists like Blanco, Neon Hitch, and ROBOPOP, Pilot Creative fosters a sense of brotherhood and connection, allowing the surrounding area of Williamsburg and its historic culture to inspire their collective work.
Looking forward, Pilot Creative will become the home of several record labels and a publishing company, as well as additional artists. Rather than focus on established acts, Pilot Creative aims to develop and build new and exciting talent on a personal level. This organic, particularized approach is the future of music and Pilot Creative already has the track record to prove it.
ord to prove it.
