MIAMI, FL. (Top40 Charts/ Univision Communications) The Univision Network delivered state-of-the-art, blowout music performances during tonight's eighth annual 'Premios Juventud' youth awards show. Showcasing the largest number of interactive musical performances and worldwide television premieres in its history, the 'Premios Juventud' show was broadcast LIVE from the BankUnited Center at the University of Miami, at 8 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. Central). As the only show of its kind on Spanish-language television, 'Premios Juventud' included 24 unique categories celebrating the preferences of today's Hispanic youth in everything from music, film and sports, to fashion, novelas and pop culture. This year's biggest winner was
Prince Royce who won four awards.
'Premios Juventud' delivered some of the most anticipated duets and a history-making number of worldwide premieres. The night kicked off with Daddy Yankee's and Prince Royce's spectacular television debut of 'Ven Conmigo,' where the artists made a show-stopping entrance accompanied by more than 1,200 fans in an energy-charged dance routine that transformed the venue into a spectacular show of lights.
Spanish singer/songwriter Natalia Jiménez made her solo debut with the worldwide television premiere of her new single 'Por Ser Tu Mujer.' Mexican band Reik took the stage to debut its latest song 'Peligro' and Colombian singer Fanny Lu presented the premiere of her new single, a female empowerment anthem, 'Fanfarrón,' set to the beat of a drum line set.
In one of the night's most memorable performances, super star Pitbull, Ne-Yo and Nayer, teamed up to present their blowout hit 'Give Me Everything (Tonight)' in a high-energy showcase that got everyone up and dancing. Also, presenting for the first time in Spanish-language television, young Italian trio sensation Il Volo delivered mesmerizing renditions of 'O Sole Mio' and 'Hasta el Final.'
Anthony 'Romeo' Santos' worldwide television debut of his new single 'You,' Luis Fonsi's exclusive version of 'Gritar' and 'Triunfo del Amor's' Maite Perroni and Marco Di Mauro's 'A Partir de Hoy' also set the romantic tone at 'Premios Juventud,' while Dulce María's heartfelt lyrics from 'Ya No' pumped up the audience.
Other highlights included mega star Ricky Martin, one of the night's most nominated artists, joined by dynamic reggaetón duo Wisin y Yandel, who brought his latest song 'Frio' to the stage. Also turning up the heat on the 'Premios Juventud' stage, Joey Montana presented his 'Melodía' song, accompanied by a sea of fans. Under a flowing blue fabric to simulate the look of waves, young fans joined the artist and played with oversized beach balls, bringing the summer's chart-topping hit to life.
Also keeping the audience dancing, Venezuelan duo Chino y Nacho, presented the world premiere of their romantic song 'El Poeta' in an urban, city-like setting. Reggaetón star Gocho joined by Jowell & Randy performed 'Dándole,' and reggaetón new artist Plan B, with Tony Dize and Zion & Lennox, delivered a high-impact performance of 'Si No Le Contesto.' Wisin y Yandel returned to the stage with a powerful closing performance that left the audience wanting more.
Additional highlights include two of the hottest regional Mexican singers today with Larry Hernández and his rendition of the hit song 'El Ardido' and Gerardo Ortíz performing fan favorite 'A La Moda.' Also, up-and-coming Puerto Rican singer/songwriter Sie7e delivered peace and love to the house with his song 'Tengo tu Love.' For the first time in the show's history, and to thank their fans in the most watched awards show this summer, Shakira and Maná accepted their awards live via Skype.
One of the evening's most touching moments came when Ricky Martin honored Spanish actor Antonio Banderas with the 'Supernova' award in recognition of his work as one of the most important idols for Latin youth. Past recipients of the 'Supernova' award include other leading Latin artists such as Shakira, Maná, Ricardo Arjona and Chayanne.
Additional winners included William Levy ('He's So HOT!') and Maite Perroni ('Girl of My Dreams') who took home awards in 'Premios Juventud's' new telenovela category, and Ricky Martin who took home the new 'Síganme Los Buenos' award in the pop culture category, honoring his engaging communications with fans via social media.
Jaime Camil ('What An Actor!') and Blanca Soto ('She Steals the Show') also went home with wins in the film category, and the movie 'From Prada to Nada' ('Favorite Flick') won as the audience's choice for the best film of the year.
In the sports category, Hispanic youth made their love for soccer known with their selection of Javier 'Chicharito' Hernández ('Most Electrifying Athlete') and Mónica Puig ('Promising New Player.')
This year's 'Premios Juventud' blue carpet was also blazing with entertainment's biggest stars, as hosts Alejandra Espinoza and Alejandro Chabán reported on all of the details behind this year's star-studded event.
