On the song,
Stephen Sanchez said: "'Only Girl' is a dialogue and sentiment between rival characters that appear in the universe behind my new music: The Troubadour Sanchez and a mysterious past love of Evangeline's (seen in the lyric video). Both characters sing with the same heart-seeking to be with Evangeline in 1964. With 'Only Girl,' I want people to feel like they are part of the counterculture of 1964 when they listen to this new era of music. A counterculture that focused on love-I want to ingrain that theme of love into today's world-a world that doesn't have enough classic romance."
The rapidly rising star initially debuted the tune on tour, leaving fans clamoring for its official release. Earlier this month, he teased "Only Girl" online, inciting widespread excitement from fans. The track was produced by Ian Fitchuk and Konrad Snyder, who also co-wrote the song with Stephen and Stephen Day. The accompanying cinematic visualizer notably stars the same actress,
Frances O'Sullivan, from the "Evangeline" visualizer and was shot in London along with the single artwork.

In the fall, he will kick off his 32-date headline tour in Indianapolis, IN and make stops at legendary venues across the country.
