New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ GMC TV) - Top artists in the gospel world gathered on Tuesday, July 20 to pay respects to Grammy Award winning gospel legend, Bishop Walter Hawkins, who passed away July 11 after succumbing to pancreatic cancer.
Gospel music luminaries will gather at Oakland's Paramount Theater for a musical salute to Walter Hawkins known for his classic gospel songs such as "Goin' Up Yonder," "Marvelous," and "What is This?" THE WALTER HAWKINS TRIBUTE CONCERT will air on Sunday on GMC, America's favorite channel for uplifting music and family entertainment, at 8:00 p.m. ET, 5:00 p.m. PT

Gospel performers who will perform include: Yolanda Adams, Mary Mary, Donnie McClurkin, Hawkins' sister, Lynnette Hawkins, R&B artist Ledisi, Karen Clark Sheard, Daryl Coley, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Byron Cage, Melvin & Doug Williams of The Williams Brothers, guitarist Jonathan DuBose Jr., D.J. Rogers, and The Love Center Choir. The music directors for the evening will include Hawkins' brother, Edwin Hawkins, Donald Lawrence, Kurt Carr, Richard Smallwood, and Hawkins' longtime music director, Rusty Watson. Bebe Winans, Marvin Winans, and Black Entertainment Television (BET) personality, Dr. Bobby Jones will serve as masters of ceremonies

Sunday, July 25 at 8:00 p.m. ET, 5:00 p.m. PT

GMC (formerly the Gospel Music Channel) will telecast the tribute which was performed Tuesday, July 20 in Oakland, CA at the Paramount Theater
