Music Publishing Group (UMPG) announced today the signing of
Nicole Scherzinger, member of the No.1 Dance/Pop group, The Pussycat Dolls, to an exclusive, worldwide publishing administration agreement.
Started in 1995, The Pussycat Dolls have grown and morphed into the sensation they are today. In addition to being the group's lead vocalist, Nicole Scherzinger co-wrote several of the tracks on PCD (A&M/Interscope), the group's platinum-certified debut album, which hit stores in September. The album's first single, "Don't Cha," was recently named Billboard's Year-End No.1 Hot Dance Club Play Single, No.1 on Billboard's Pop 100 chart, No.2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and was included on Now That's What I Call Music Vol.20. The second single, "Stickwitu," reached No.1 on UK charts and No.2 on Billboard's Pop 100. The Pussycat Dolls have made appearances on shows such as MTV's TRL, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and The Ellen DeGeneres Show, as well as having performed at the Teen Choice Awards and the Radio Music Awards. The Pussycat Dolls are planning on expanding their fan base with a perfume, and a line of clothing.
The Doll's 27 year-old Scherzinger is best described as a "triple-threat;" the charismatic artist can sing, dance, and act. Scherzinger made her music debut when she was chosen as a member of the popular group Eden's Crush, the girl-group formed on the WB show, Popstars. The group achieved success with their Top 10 self-titled debut album and their No.1 single "Get Over Yourself." After Eden's Crush, Nicole guest-starred on the TV show, My Wife and Kids and had a role in feature film, Chasing Papi.
Managed by Jeff Haddad, Nicole Scherzinger joins UMPG's successful roster, which includes Mariah Carey, 50 Cent, Ciara, Anastacia, Anthony Hamilton, Chris Brown, Christina Milan, Amerie, Ashanti, Tony Yayo, Brian McKnight, Mary J. Blige, amongst many others.
