Music Publishing Australia is pleased to announce the signing of rising Sydney pop/rock band
Little Sea to a global music publishing deal.
"It's rare for a brand new band to build a level of momentum like this in such a short space of time.
Little Sea are young, focused and energetic and most importantly they write great songs. We are really pleased to have them on board and we are looking forward to helping them build their careers at home and abroad," said Heath Johns, UMP Australia
Director of A&R.
After building an impressive fan base via impromptu busking and social media activity,
Little Sea's self-funded, independently released debut EP, Wake The Sun, debuted at #1 on the Australian iTunes charts encouraging widespread label interest in Australia and across the world. Simultaneously the band sold out their entire East Coast Tour in under 10 minutes where queues of people stretched around the blocks of venues in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
"We are extremely excited to become a part of the Universal
Music Publishing family. This incredible opportunity is an amazing next step in our young careers, and to be given this platform as songwriters is both motivating and highly rewarding. We are excited about our future!" Said
Little Sea.
Regularly trending across social media platforms at home and worldwide,
Little Sea will shortly embark on their maiden US voyage with plans in place to write and collaborate with UMPG's international song-writing network as they prepare their debut album. Prior to the songwriting jaunt,
Little Sea will perform across the remainder of Australia and also visit New Zealand for the first time.
Little Sea join a UMPG Australia roster that includes 360, Passenger, M-Phazes, The Aston Shuffle, Wave Racer, Gang of Youths, Guy Sebastian, Jet, Horrorshow,
Jessica Mauboy, Louis Schoorl, The Veronicas, The Living End, Wolfmother, Bernard Fanning, The Potbelleez, Jackie Onassis, Bag Raiders, Dead Letter Circus, Spit Syndicate, Jonti, Chance Waters, Last Dinosaurs and many more.
