New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Columbia Records) After selling an impressive 352,000 copies of her sophomore album 21 last week, British artist
Adele continues to dominate U.S. Album charts at No 1 with an additional 168,000 copies sold this week. With a two week sales total of 520,000, 21 is the biggest selling debut of 2011 and now officially certified gold! In her native U.K. 21 has held the No 1 spot on the album sales chart for six weeks, selling over 1 million copies and certified quadruple platinum. 21 debuted at No 1 in ten country's around the globe including the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Austria, New Zealand, Canada, Germany and more. Adele's debut album 19 has also seen a dramatic increase in sales. In the UK 19 is currently at No 4 while in the U.S. its shot up to No 28 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart.
Adele is the first living artist since The
Beatles to have two top five hits in both the U.K. singles and album charts, simultaneously.
"Rolling In The Deep," the pulsating first single from 21, which USA Today called "mesmerizing" and Rolling Stone called "her best yet," has been certified Gold by the R.I.A.A. for digital sales in excess of 500,000 downloads.
The second track to resonate with fans off of 21 is "Someone Like You." The song rose to the No 1 spot on the UK charts, where it has remained for over 3 weeks, immediately after Adele's breathtaking performance of the track at the BRIT Awards.

Adele begins a sold-out 20 city tour of Europe on March 21st and then heads to North America for 23 sold-out shows. The North American tour kicks off on May 12th in Washington, DC and runs through June 20th in Nashville, TN (see below for full N. American tour dates).
