Santa Monica, CA. (Top40 Charts / D.Baron Media) 23-year-old Swedish DJ/Producer
Avicii has rocketed to #3 on the legendary DJ Magazine's annual list of Top 100 DJs, moving from 39 to 6 to 3 since his first appearance on the list in 2010. The accellerated pace of his climb up the chart, which is voted on by fans, makes him the youngest DJ who has been on the list for the shortest amount of time, and comes in a year with a nonstop performance schedule and unprecedent success with hit after hit, such as 'Levels,' 'Silhouettes' and 'Superlove.'
Avicii, aka Tim Bergling, will have played over 300 shows by the end of 2012, and his LE7ELS arena tour (le7els.com) has been the biggest and most advanced live production the EDM scene has seen thus far.
Avicii has headlined gigantic festivals like Ultra, Lollapalooza, ACL and others, played three nights at Yankee Stadium returning the favor of Madonna's Ultra appearance and had a hugely successful residency in Ibiza. He advanced the cause of music by bringing EDM for the first time to legendary arenas such as
Santa Monica Civic Auditorium and
Radio City
Music Hall where the NY Times called his performance "exuberant."
Earlier this year
Avicii and his manager Ash Pournouri, founder of At Night Management, partnered with Ralph
Lauren for Bergling to become the face of Denim & Supply Ralph Lauren, becoming the first celebrity partner in the venerable label's history. The relationship has proved extremly successful, extending to next year.
Pournouri and
Avicii have taken steps to share their success and give back to the world that has embraced them. They are working hard to bring awareness to the values of love and unity that house music has always been about, and have created House for Hunger Foundation. They funded the launch of their foundation with personal income derived from touring, and House for Hunger's first action was to donate $l million to Feeding America. In 2013,
Avicii and Pournouri will launch a second initiative in
Europe to raise l million Euros for African hunger charities.
"We've worked hard this past year to nurture the brand and broaden
Avicii past just being a DJ and producer, creating a presence in fashion and philanthropy," said Pournouri. "We are honored to have such loyal and supportive fans - the third place on the Top 100 is a testament to this."
Next year, fans can look forward to
Avicii devoting more time in the studio creating new music and bigger (but fewer) shows around the world.
