Paris, FRANCE (Top40 Charts/ Coca-Cola Company) "All my life I wanted this music to be as respected as hip-hop, rock and pop but until this moment, it wasn't," said Grammy Award-winning artist, producer and DJ,
David Guetta. "It's not only about me; it's about the culture and the position of the DJ."
"Collaborating with Guetta on "Nothing But the Beat"
On Saturday, Sept. 17, the iconic Grand Rex Theater in Paris played host to the worldwide premiere of "Nothing But the Beat" - a full-length documentary-style film chronicling
David Guetta's life, career and meteoric rise from underground house DJ to global superstar.
David and his wife Cathy attended the premiere and were greeted by rapturous applause from over 2,000 fans who chanted his name as he entered the theater.
The movie - a collaboration between
David Guetta and burn, an industry-leading energy drink from The Coca-Cola Company - tells the inspirational story of
David Guetta and his impact on popular music. By fusing house and electronic beats with hip hop and R&B, Guetta has catapulted house music from clubs to stadiums worldwide, ultimately taking it to the top of the music charts. Told through interviews with Guetta as well as anecdotes from friends, colleagues, collaborators and his wife Cathy, the footage is presented in an aesthetic that combines classic documentary storytelling with the stylistic elements and energy of a music video.
"We shot the movie in some of the world's biggest electronic music hubs in more than 10 cities around the world, capturing Guetta's daily life and his epic concerts in front of tens of thousands of fans," said Producer of the movie Umut Ozaydinli from Deviant Ventures. "The combination of insight from his collaborators, sound-bites from iconic names in the music business, rare archived footage from David's own video library and mind-blowing performances, make "Nothing But the Beat" a must-see for Guetta fans and fans of house music across the globe."
The film features in-depth interviews with today's most acclaimed artists including will.i.am,
Kelly Rowland, Snoop Dogg, Ludacris,
Taio Cruz and
Usher and insights from dance music legends Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim, Laurent Garnier,
David Morales and Pete Tong. It also includes some of the hottest new talent Guetta has worked with on his forthcoming album such as Afrojack, Avicci and Nervo. The movie tracks the role Guetta played in birthing the cross-over genre of house blended with pop, hip-hop and R&B.A peek into the journey, Guetta shares the ups, downs, struggles and victories as he introduces ground-breaking beats and sounds to new audiences and generations.
"Nothing But the Beat" the movie, is a burn production in association with What A Music, renowned filmmakers Partizan (Be Kind Rewind, Part of the Weekend Never Dies) and boutique innovation house Deviant Ventures.
"If you made this film five years ago, you'd be shooting in clubs and DJ booths, not hundred thousand seat stadiums or giant music festivals with the DJ controlling the crowd from the main stage," said "Nothing But the Beat"
Director Huse Monfaradi. "Guetta has taken the unrecognized DJ and brought him to rock star status."
David Guetta is proof of someone who is living his dream and acting on ambition with restless hard work and passion - values that mirror those of the burn brand. When Guetta partnered with burn, he wanted to do something different for his fans, so together they decided to make the first documentary of his life.
Guetta says, "Working with burn on "Nothing But the Beat" has given me the opportunity to share this journey and I hope it will inspire anyone who has talent or dreams to follow them. I have been chasing mine since I was a teenager, and it still feels like it's only the beginning for me."
The relationship between burn and
David Guetta illustrates a brand-inspired content strategy, a ground-breaking approach to brand and artist partnerships. The production was a true collaboration between burn and Guetta, working side by side to create unique, authentic and inspired content that presents a real life portrayal of the house music scene.
"The burn brand believes in inspiring action with those who want to leave their creative mark on the world," said Dan White, GlobalGroup Director, burn, The Coca-Cola Company. "David Guetta personifies this spirit in everything that he does and the more we got to know him and what he stands for, the more compelled we felt to share his story with fans across the globe."
Emmanuel Seuge, Group Director, Worldwide Sports and Entertainment Marketing, The Coca-Cola Company, commented, "Collaborating with Guetta on "Nothing But the Beat" has been a great experience for us as we look at new ways to bring compelling content to our consumers."
The movie will launch in theaters and on TV in 22 countries across the globe in the coming months. A global, online premiere later in the year will give fans the chance to view the movie wherever they are. Information on the global premiere will be announced at www.facebook.com/burn.
