NEW YORK (Lava/Atlantic Records press release) - The French newcomer singer
Cherie has announced that she will be hitting the road with
Clay Aiken for a national concert tour this summer. The tour kicks off on July 6th at the Bismarck Civic Center
Arena in Bismarck, ND.
Cherie will be showcasing material from her highly anticipated self-titled debut album, which is set for release on August 3rd. Her hit new single "
I'm Ready" is charting at No 29 on the Top-40 chart this week, and is currently featured in Dell Inc.'s new national television advertising campaign.
Cherie's debut album is a pop tour de force. Already garnering accolades, Cherie was described by Billboard as "an artist to restore faith in music." The New Yorker called her vocal talent "remarkably appealing," saying she has "the vocal power of Whitney Houston with the feel-good-around-the-edges shimmer of Shania Twain." The breakthrough single "I'm Ready," which features the familiar guitar lick from Foreigner's "Urgent," was No 2 most added at Top 40 radio, following closely on the heels of Beyonce's new single "Naughty Girl." The up-tempo song is being spun by key stations across the country, including KIIS FM/ Los Angeles, WXKS/Boston, WIOQ/ Philly, Y100/ Miami and Star/ Atlanta. Press coverage on Cherie includes USA Today, Elle, Seventeen and Parade.
Cherie's music is no stranger to television. She is set to appear on an upcoming episode of 'As the World Turns' in early July, performing her soaring balled "Older Than My Years". In addition to the Dell Inc. commercial, "I'm Ready" can be heard in promos for CBS, Lifetime and UPN. Having received its official debut as part of the America Online Service's Breakers program, Cherie's music has been played over 250,000 times on the AOL Music channel. Her recently taped Sessions@AOL appearance will launch on the service in the coming weeks.
Cherie joins the ranks with Avril Lavigne, Michelle Branch, Josh Groban, 50 Cent and Jet, each of whom was named to the AOL Service's Breakers program at the beginning stages of their careers.
Cherie's self-titled debut will hit stores on August 3rd, 2004.
