This Eric Sommer Americana/Roots Tour will be centered on new material from the upcoming record: The Word For World Is Forest, and will feature Mr. Sommers' signature twang guitar sound. The backline contributes to the unique audio "wall of sound" approach, which derives from cheap guitars, played through a stack of 6-8 cheap amps with modifications. Also on the Tour will be two signature 1958 Silvertone Guitars, found, refurbished and sold dirt cheap to Eric by Carle Meine of Dave's Guitars, LaCrosse, WI.
Mr. Sommer's backline features a collection of Fender amps, a Roland or two and a 1937 Vlaco Shield (National). The
National delivers a raw, overdrive soundscape that is ideal for harmonica when used with the "Green Bullet" 40's dispatcher mics, especially favored by Magic Dick of The J. Geils Band and Lee Oskar of WAR.
A new series was recently add to the Tour, which now includes dates in South Carolina and Georgia:
May 20th, Awendaw, SC - Awendaw Green
May 21st, North Charleston, SC - The Mill
May 22nd, Charleston, SC - Home Team BBQ
May 23rd, Savannah, GA - The Sentient Bean
A special date in Philadelphia has been added to the tour - World Café Live in Philadelphia will host Eric Sommer for a solo show on March 18th. Tickets are available at the WCL Box Office.
