T-Mobile is rebranding its ONE and ONE Plus plans to Magenta and Magenta Plus.
Magenta Plus is the exact same as ONE Plus, but the basic Magenta plan is a little different from the former ONE plan:
1. Magenta has 4G high-speed hotspot use where ONE only had 3G hotspot speeds.
2. Magenta has a worse Netflix subscription. You can only use one device at a time, and can only stream in SD. ONE allows you to stream on two devices at a time and in HD.
Current ONE customers are not required to switch to the Magenta plan, although if you stay on ONE, your monthly bill price will go up by $2.00 to account for an increase in Netflix subscription prices. This Netflix increase is one reason T-Mobile downgraded the free account on Magenta. If you switch to Magenta, you will keep the same price.
T-Mobile is working REALLY hard to get you to switch to them. Along with the new Magenta branding, T-Mobile is offering a discount match guarantee to your current carrier. This means if you have a discount with your current wireless provider (corporate, senior, affiliate, OR military), T-Mobile will MATCH it. You can get up to $15 off for one line, or $30 for two lines.
To qualify for this discount, just bring in your current cell phone bill to a T-Mobile store and a T-Mobile employee will set you up with savings.
T-Mobile says they are offering this discount match to "free" consumers from cell phone carriers they might not love.
The Magenta plan is $70/Month. If you qualify for the full $15 discount you'll only be paying $55/Month for the plan.
The Magenta Plus plan is $85/Month. If you qualify for the full $15 discount you'll only be paying $70/month.
