Biography

MisterWives was formed in 2012 where the three New York natives set out to produce, and perform their independently composed music. Their sound has been described as indie-pop-soul and has been well received in some of New York’s most notable venues. The core members include Mandy Lee (vocals/keys) William Hehir (bass) and Etienne Bowler (drums). Their live set incorporates other musicians that contribute sax, trumpet, guitar, and strings to their well-rounded sound.

Mandy Lee (Vocals), Etienne Bowler (Drums), Will Hehir (Bass) -- began making music together in late 2012.
Lee was born and raised in Queens and acts as the band's principal songwriter and lead vocalist. She studied songwriting and opera at NYC's only specialized public high school for music and performing arts, laying a foundation for her incredible range and giving her the ability to explore a wide variety of vocal styles. Lee met Hehir through a mutual friend and shortly thereafter was introduced to Bowler, a Bronx native, while the two were working at restaurants a block away from one another in Manhattan. The three shared a mutual love for music and similar aesthetic sensibilities and banded together to form the core of MisterWives.
When it came to time to round out the live band, Bowler brought old friends Jesse Blum (Keys/Trumpet/Accordion) and Marc Campbell (Guitar) on board.
They played their first show together this February in Manhattan and grabbed the attention of Photo Finish, who offered MisterWives a deal shortly after. Although a new band, their sound was focused and self-assured, quickly earning them over 300,000 plays on SoundCloud and a slew of blog love, including early nods from Pigeons and Planes, Earmilk, Neon Gold and more.
