Renowned Composer Howard Shore To Receive The "Maestro Award" At 2014 Billboard Film And TV Music Conference
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Billboard (www.billboard.com / www.billboard.biz) and The Hollywood Reporter (thr.com) today announced that three-time Academy Award-winning composer Howard Shore will be presented with the 2014 Maestro Award at the Billboard/Hollywood Reporter Film and TV Music Conference, November 5 - 6, 2014.

The Billboard/Hollywood Reporter Film and TV Music Conference, in its 13th year, is dedicated to all facets of music and its uses in television, film, advertising and new media. The event brings together recording artists, composers, and executives from all branches of entertainment, music supervisors, publishers, filmmakers, managers and others to discuss the ever-changing entertainment landscape and opportunities for content creators and copyright holders. The conference will take place at The Globe Theater at Universal Studios Hollywood in Universal City, CA, having sold out attendance the past two years.

Shore, who over the course of his distinguished career has composed scores for over 80 films, including Philadelphia, Hugo, The Aviator, Ed Wood, The Silence of the Lambs, Big, Naked Lunch and Mrs. Doubtfire, is best known for his music for The Lord of the Rings trilogy, for which he has won three Academy Awards. He is also the recipient of three Golden Globes and four Grammys.

"From The Lord of the Rings to High Fidelity to Crash, Howard Shore's talent spans not only genres but also proves to be timeless," said Janice Min, Co-President/Chief Creative Officer of the Entertainment Group of Guggenheim Media. "His work has resulted in some of Hollywood's most beloved scores, and we are honored to have him as our 2014 Maestro Award recipient."

Shore has scored three films due late in 2014: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (12/17), Maps to the Stars (5/21), and Rosewater (11/7), Jon Stewart's directorial debut, screening at the Toronto International Film Festival.

"I am grateful for the acknowledgement from these two esteemed publications," said composer Howard Shore. "Thank you and I look forward to seeing everyone in November."

The Maestro Award is an annual award presented to artists and composers who have made a lasting contribution to film and television music. Previous winners include Oscar- and multiple-Grammy-winning producer, musician and songwriter T. Bone Burnett, composers Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer, Alan Menken and Thomas Newman, as well as songwriter Diane Warren.
