LONDON, UK (AP) - U.K. rock veteran Paul Weller is in the midst of a busy round of activity in the lead-up to the British release of a live set containing material from throughout his career, which now spans 24 years of almost constant chart residence. "Days of Speed," an 18-track album recorded on a global tour which has been ongoing since February, is due Oct. 8 on Independiente in the U.K., and includes songs from the Jam, the Style Council, and Weller's solo career.

The Jam period offers up such tracks as "English Rose," "That's Entertainment," and "Town Called Malice," while "Headstart For Happiness" is included from the Style Council years, along with such solo favorites of the past decade as "You Do Something To Me," "Out of the Sinking," and "Wild Wood." A double vinyl version of the album will also be released as a limited edition.

Meanwhile, following his concert for BBC Radio 2 at the BBC Radio Theatre in April, Weller last night (Sept. 19) filmed a special episode of BBC2's "Later with Jools Holland" series that will air Oct. 5.

Weller begins a new round of dates Oct. 31 in Utrecht, Holland, running through a Dec. 10 show at London's Royal Albert Hall.
