NEW YORK (Virgin Records) - The Exies' song "Ugly," the first single from their upcoming Virgin Records album, Head for the Door (November 30, 2004), has been chosen as the theme song for World Wrestling Entertainment's upcoming Pay Per View, SURVIVOR SERIES which airs on November 14th at 8:00 PM Eastern Time.
"Ugly" will be heard in all promotion and television commercials surrounding SURVIVOR SERIES and will be hyped by announcers and WWE Superstars on WWE's other original programming, which draws 10 million cable viewers weekly. Recaps and packages revisiting the SURVIVOR SERIES PPV event will extend the song's exposure well beyond the official conclusion of the event promotion on November 30th, which coincides with the Head for the Door album release date. The music video for "Ugly" will be included in entirety on the WWE's upcoming DVD of SURVIVOR SERIES along with a promotional page of album information.
The song has already zoomed onto Active Rock radio, where it was among the top 5 most-added songs in its debut week. Visibility has also been spreading fast on cable and broadcast media, including: FUSE, where the video won the "Oven Fresh Keepers" competition, leading to a mid-October appearance on "The Daily Download" and another planned live spot on the November 30th release date; MTV2's "New Faces of Rock," where the video runs in the week of November 15th; and the WB Network's drama The Mountain, where the band performs "Ugly" and "Tired of You" on November 14th - the promo spots are airing on the network now. The Exies are currently on tour with Velvet Revolver, and will wind up the year in a headlining tour starting November 23rd. Head for the Door is the group's second album for Virgin.
Kevin Dunn, Executive Producer of World Wrestling Entertainment commented: "When we first heard 'Ugly,' we knew at once this was the prefect theme song for Survivor Series. The song's hardcore edge and all-out excitement of the Exies is a great fit for WWE."
The track will receive unprecedented exposure during the PPV event overthe course of the Survivor Series promotion.
The Exies will also be featured on the WWE website, which draws 8 million visits and 200 million page views monthly. A hot link will direct fans to the Exies and Virgin Records official websites.
