ATLANTA, GA (www.illicitrite.com) - On the heels of the release of their new 4-song EP, featuring the song 'Angel's Hell, Illicit Rite will rock both stages at or around 10:00.
The barrage is led by 16-year-old phenomonen and lead guitarist, Zach Burkett, who joined the group at the fledgling age of 13. Outplaying guitar veterans three times his age, critics claim his driving force, in your face style, is reminiscent of the late 'Crazy Train' Randy Rhodes. Sponsored by Dean Guitars, Zach's uber-talented fingers leaves fans forgetting he's barely old enough to drive, and hypnotized and baked in power chords and stone cold riffs.
'To hear Zach play is a religious experience in itself,' lead vocalist Justin Lewis said. 'It's just unbelievable what that kid can do.'
Lewis, a self-described time bomb on lyrical steroids, handles the mike in front of mega-bassist Paul Burkett, and his father Jim, who brings his 36 years drumming experience to the group.
Illicit Rite, formerly known as 15 on the Down, has rocked thousands of fans at over 100 shows in the Southeast. Some of the highlights of which include, two performances at the Riverbend Festival in Chattanooga in 2003 and 2004, a high-energy session at the legendary Florida roadhouse Flora-Bama last year, and an equally raucous
Spring Break performance in Panama City in 2004.
'An Illicit Rite show is like taking a bath in gasoline while smoking a cigarette,' Jim said. 'Fans will get their money's worth and then some. Every time we play a live show we leave our sweat, blood, and tears on the stage.'
