NASHVILLE, TN. (Sony Music Nashville) - Gretchen Wilson is two for two when it comes to award shows. Last week the hot new singer/songwriter won the coveted "Horizon" Award from the Country Music Association (CMA) and took home the prestigious "Breakthrough - Favorite New Artist" Award (all genres) at the American Music Awards in Los Angeles.
"I could get used to this!" said a thrilled Gretchen when she accepted the AMA Award last night. She thanked the fans and everyone involved in the award show, and then told the audience, "I might be a redneck woman, but I'm a lover of music - all kinds of music, and I think this is an amazing experience to come here and share so many genres of music," making reference to the variety of talent represented on the show.

Gretchen's stirring performance of her latest single, "When I Think About Cheatin'," on last week's CMA Awards drew an immediate standing ovation from her peers, the music industry and the fans in attendance. "I just fell apart when people started standing up," she shared.

The audience again came to their feet when Gretchen's name was read by two former Horizon Award winners, LeAnn Rimes and Joe Nichols, as the winner of her own esteemed award. With tears streaming down her face, she thanked her family and especially her daughter Grace who turned four that day.

Gretchen had just inked her deal with Sony Music when she attended last year's CMA Awards as a guest of her record company. Following her "Horizon" win, she admitted, "I had no expectations except for a better seat than I had last year, which was all the way in the back."

Following the American Music Awards, Gretchen is on her way to Hidalgo, Texas to catch up with her touring mates Big & Rich and the Muzic Mafia on The Chevy Presents An American Revolution Tour.
Her debut album Here For The Party was recently certified triple platinum cementing her status as the highest-selling debut country artist this year.
