ASHLAND, KY. (Bakpak Productions/ www.hydrogyn.com) - In a true marriage of two popular arts, up-and-coming new age metal rock band HYDROGYN today released a new single called 'Vesper's Song,' inspired by a recently released graphic novel, 'VESPERS,' written and illustrated by NOW Comics' founder and author Tony Caputo.

The lyrics, written by husband-and-wife-pair Tony and Lisa Marie Caputo, tell the story of Vesper, the main character in the graphic novel, and her never-ending battle to escape the shadows of her dark past and realize her true spirit and identity.

'I immediately identified with Vesper,' said Hydrogyn lead singer Julie Westlake. 'Like me, she is struggling to stay afloat in a cut-throat industry, coping with the pressures of stardom, show-business and sex appeal. It's easy to lose yourself in that environment, which is a theme that both the graphic novel and the song explore.'

NOW and Hydrogyn met through a former NOW Comics writer who currently works in the music industry. He was familiar with Hydrogyn, and contacted Caputo at NOW Media Group in Chicago, suggesting he meet the Ashland, Ky.-based rock band.

'It really is destiny that NOW and Hydrogyn found each other, and I couldn't be happier with the outcome,' Caputo said. 'This is an exciting chance for us to do something unique in both the music and comic industries, and I believe the song, and the forthcoming music video, will really connect with Hydrogyn and NOW fans, as well as new listeners, and readers, who aren't yet familiar with either group.'

After meeting and exchanging the lyrics, Jeff Westlake, Jeff Boggs and Julie Westlake of Hydrogyn arranged and recorded the music and vocal tracks. Following an intense collaboration process, 'Vesper's Song' was completed in just three studio days.

'It has been a great experience to work with Hydrogyn,' Caputo said. 'There is a lot of synergy between us. They also understand my graphic novel, and the character of Vesper, which I think comes across when you listen to the song.'

Bakpak Productions, a branch of Mule Media in Ashland, Ky., is in the process of creating concepts for the 'Vesper's Song' music video, which would combine live action shots of Hydrogyn with animated sequences inspired by the first 'VESPERS' graphic novel.
You can listen to 'Vesper's Song' online or download the MP3 at www.nowcomics.com and at www.hydrogyn.com. It will also appear on Hydrogyn's upcoming album, along with new songs written by Lisa Marie Caputo in advance of the upcoming 'VESPERS II.'
