This
week, the largest daily paper in the
State of
Texas honored Rathbun
with their own version of notoriety, an article in the Houston
Chronicle. Joey Guerra of the
Houston Chronicle calls Rathbun
"transported from another decadeone filled with smoky cabarets,
dancing woman and all that jazz." It takes a lot to impress
Houstonians. With towering office buildings, billions in oil revenue,
and the
Houston Livestock Show, it's not easy for a jazz artist to get
their attention. Rathbun has got a hit record in Houston. It's called,
"Coffee, Chocolate & Men." The song is a smash, along with "Doctor
Of Love, The Yard Man, and Cereal Rag. That song is a bonus track after
the 11th song plays on the compact disc."

jazz radio stations have latched on to Jen Rathbun like a lifesaver in
the middle of a stormy sea. People flood radio stations and television
stations alike after hearing Rathbun perform in person or on her latest
CD with 12 of the best songs you'll find at your local Borders
bookstore, Amazon.com or any other retail music outlet. Rathbun won the
National Singer/Songwriter contest and was invited to come to Nashville
and perform at the Bluebird Caf. While there,
Legends Hall Of Fame
member, Robert Metzgar offered Rathbun a record deal. Rathbun is an El
Paso,
Texas native and she grew up with her grandparents and earned a
degree in classical vocal performance from the University of Denver.
Her completion of a second degree in music brought her to
Houston in
1996 for an internship. That was the first step to stardom.

Texas has finally taken notice of the jazz singer with many of the same
features as Marilyn Monroe. You would swear looking at her "live"
pictures in the
Houston Chronicle that you were transported in time and
were listening to Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, or one of the great
torch singers of the past. No one in the music business today, writes
jazz like Rathbun. She is one of the best composers of music in that
genre ever. She takes you back to the greatest days of jazz, big bands,
and the speak easy way of living during the 1920's. What a rush being
at one of her concerts. Fan of
Bette Midler or Rosemary Clooney? You'll
absolutely love Jen Rathbun. If you are voting for the
