MARIETTA,
GA. (Atlantis
Music Conference & Festival/ www.atlantismusic.com) -
One of America's greatest platforms for discovery of new talent and the
music industry's main summertime gathering place, the Atlantis Music
Conference and Festival announced that it is currently accepting artist
performance applications for this year's event, scheduled from Aug. 10
to Aug. 13, 2005. Now in its eighth year, the annual music event will
once again bring together professionals representing all sectors of the
music industry and more than 300 of music's most promising new artists
for 4 around-the-clock days and nights of performances, panels,
parties, keynote addresses and more; all taking place in the heart of
the city heralded as today's new music mecca, Atlanta, Ga.
Bands
and solo artists wishing to perform at the 2005 Atlantis should visit
the website at www.atlantismusic.com to obtain an application form.
Artists then must enclose in one package the following items: a signed
and dated application, one CD or cassette of original material (3-song
minimum with artist name and contact information clearly indicated),
photo or press kit that includes a list of all band members, and the
showcase application fee of $25. Complete packages must be sent to the
Atlantis
Music Conference offices at 50 Barrett Pkwy, Suite 1200; PMB
342; Marietta, GA 30066. The deadline for submitting is Thursday, Apr.
1.
Amping up to be the event's biggest year ever, the 2005
Atlantis will further the momentum fueled by last year's successful
conference, which welcomed more than 300 artists, 3,000 registrants and
42,000 live music enthusiasts, together representing 32 states and six
countries. For 2005, Atlantis organizers expect an even greater number
of attendees and a broader spectrum of showcasing artists from all over
the U.S. and overseas. And much like the remarkable diversity of
Atlanta's own music scene, which boasts a matchless musical heritage
and is home to a number of today's top hitmakers in urban, pop and rock
music as well as trailblazing, critically acclaimed independent
artists, the 2005 Atlantis will spotlight an array of genres including
rock, hip-hop, singer/songwriter, soul, Latin, pop, punk, metal and
R&B.
Atlantis showcases are known throughout the industry as
featuring the best new artists--95% of which are unsigned--performing
for music enthusiasts in Atlanta's renowned rock rooms and live music
venues. Independent artists are given the opportunity to be seen and
heard by some of today's most influential industry executives and
A&R representatives. Past showcasing artists include Maroon 5, Los
Lonely Boys, John Mayer, Bone Crusher, Lost Prophets, The Lost
Trailers, Sugarland, Trapt, The Hiss, Glen Phillips, Kottonmouth Kings,
Josh Joplin and
Trust Company, to name a few.
In addition to
nightly showcases for new talent, the Atlantis
Music Conference will
host instructional and provocative educational panels that are designed
to present the challenges facing the music business today and shed
light on the various aspects of the industry, helping to instruct the
novice and accelerate the seasoned professional. Conducted during the
day at the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel, the official headquarters for the
2005 Atlantis, the panels are one of the main reasons people return to
Atlantis year after year.
Other integral parts of Atlantis
include five official Atlantis Parties, the Atlantis Job Fair and the
Exhibition Area. Hosted at different Atlantis music venues, the
Atlantis Parties are two-hour affairs that allow musicians and music
industry professionals to network in a social setting. The Atlantis Job
Fair consists of Human Resource representatives from successful
music-based companies that take applications and discuss job
opportunities with Atlantis attendees. The Exhibition Area features
vendors promoting music-oriented products aimed at benefiting Atlantis
attendees.
