SANTA MONICA, CA. (Brookes Company Media Relations) - The Savoy Label Group (SLG) is proud to announce the signing of
Andreas Vollenweider to a multi-album, worldwide deal to it's newly-formed Kin Kou label. SLG's label for World music artists, Kin Kou kicks off a year-long rollout of projects from the Grammy Award-winning Vollenweider with the release in June of a greatest hits package for the US titled "The Magic Harp." This release includes a cd with tracks that span his entire career and a bonus dvd with never-before seen concert, interview and documentary footage. Following in July, Kin Kou will begin releasing 24-bit remastered editions of Vollenweider's back catalog.
Each reissue will include extra tracks and a bonus dvd with exclusive footage. In September, Kin Kou will release "Vox," a collection of all new recordings written, arranged and produced by Vollenweider. This will coincide with the airing of the "Vox" concert on PBS filmed in Zurich's renowned
Music Hall last December. A Fall tour of the United States is currently being planned - dates to be announced.
Vollenweider has long been lauded for his distinctive musical talent and inventiveness. He took up the harp as his instrument of choice and in the early 1970's invented the first electro-acoustic harp. Since the release of his debut album, "Eine Art Suite XIII Teilen" in 1979, the acclaimed harpist has sold over 20 million records worldwide, earned 5 multi-platinum awards in the US alone and is a Grammy Award winner. Vollenweider's signing to SLG/Kin Kou signals a triumphant return of a beloved artist to the US market.
Says Steve Vining, President of SLG/Kin Kou: "Andreas Vollenweider's music represents a wholly unique, intoxicating mix of styles synthesized from the world over. His 20 million units sold, countless awards (including a Grammy here in the US) and multiple international tours have left him with legions of fans around the globe. Andreas continues to pioneer new musical frontiers and we are thrilled to partner with him on his incredible journey."
Kin Kou is a unit of the Savoy Label Group (SLG). SLG is the North American unit of Columbia Music Entertainment (formerly Nippon Columbia), the oldest music company in Japan. Newly reorganized and now headed by Chairman Strauss Zelnick, Columbia Music Entertainment has re-emerged as a significant creative force with a stable of newly signed platinum-selling artists.
