NEW YORK (www.lifebeforemidi.com) - Guitarist Carl Burnett strips down to bare essentials with the help of special guests
Robben Ford and Branford Marsalis in his recent CD release, Life Before MIDI: Naked. This jazz/rock/funk hybrid available on https://www.lifebeforemidi.com takes the airbrush out of music and serves up pure music at its most visceral. This refreshingly honest endeavor builds on the premise of his first recording Life Before MIDI. There's no rehearsal, no MIDI programming, no click track-just 100% live jamming.
Burnett's says of his passion to create this CD, 'Although there is some great music created primarily via computers and technology, Life Before MIDI: Naked embraces musicians only being connected via their heart and soul.'
Only a master of his craft could pull off this experiment and Burnett delivers. Two-time Grammy nominee Burnett's complexity as a guitarist has drawn accolades for his unique blend of 'Hendrix meets the Meters'. The level and caliber of musicians who appear on this CD are a testimony to Burnett's genius as a player and a producer. Special guests
Robben Ford and Branford Marsalis play on several tracks. Life Before MIDI: Naked also features Wyzard, Reggie Hamilton and Tony Tino on bass, Oscar Seaton, Curt Bisquera, Rocky Bryant and Tony Moore on drums and Deron Johnson on Rhodes.
Burnett allows each performer to shine, and yet his presence is palpable. His heartbeat holds the music together, and radiates as a through-line for this largely improvisational journey. The end result is a potent blend of spontaneity and true intimacy amongst the players and the listener. Life Before MIDI: Naked spirals the listener into the soul of music-an exhilarating alchemy of inspired performers playing from the very depths of their being.

If you liked Carl Burnett's previous album 'Life Before Midi' as much as I did, then you'll love this jam-fest. Not many artists can adequately pull this off. But he attempts to and succeeds on a huge level. Magically able to carve out enigmatic and nifty tunes that are deep in groove while being rich in momentum, Carl Burnett continues to be an artist that you really need to pay attention to.

Great musicians are alive and well!!! From the start, Carl Burnett's "Life Before Midi: Naked" CD lets us know you are in for one top-notch rock-funk-blues extravaganza. This incredible guitarist teams up with his past tour mates Branford Marsalis and
Robben Ford on several tracks. Plus, he has assembled numerous players who are masters of their craft. I can't wait to see Carl Burnett and his musician friends in concert soon. We know they will leave the DATS to the neophytes and just play "
Naked".
