LOS ANGELES (www.cdbaby.com/cd/niccig) - With a platinum and a gold plaque to her name as a member of the influential group Brownstone, sultry songbird Nicci Gilbert is now poised to return to her musical origins with upcoming release of her highly anticipated solo opus, Grown Folks Music.

Taking a small break from her burgeoning acting career – which include appearances in such television shows and films as Woo, Living Single, Martin and Sister, Sister, as well as her critically acclaimed role as Vera in renowned playwright Tyler Perry's Meet The Browns – Gilbert will be in her hometown of Detroit, Michigan to celebrate the release of her album.

The founder and lead singer of the Grammy®-nominated trio Brownstone, the first act to be signed to Michael Jackson's MJJ Records. With their albums, the critically acclaimed platinum album From The Bottom Up and the gold-selling Sill Climbing, the group made a lasting mark in the music world, as well as earn the respect and admiration of fans and critics alike, as well as a place among the divas of the R&B world.

Gilbert will be in Detroit at the FOX Theater with her show, Meet the Browns, February 21st through February 28th, and will be releasing her album the same week. Additionally, she will be hosting a series of fundraising events for the Detroit Public Schools (DPS) Performing Arts programs, and will donate 50% of the album sales for that week to DPS. She is also in the process of putting together several fundraising events at malls, church's, movie theaters, nightclubs and more during the show's run in Detroit through her Nicci Gilbert Foundation, with the support of Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and the Artist Empowerment Coalition.
