Billy Idol Confirmed For 2005 Vans Warped Tour Dates

LOS ANGELES (Billy Idol Official Website) - The VANS WARPED TOUR has announced that Billy Idol will perform on select dates of this summer's tour. Idol - the punk pioneer who's back in action with a new album, Devil's Playground - will perform at the July 6, 7, 10, 16, 17, 20 and 24 shows (please see below for cities and venues).

Tour organizers stated, "We are really excited about Billy Idol being part of the tour. Many of us have been fans since the Generation-X days. The bands are going to flip out sharing the same stage with him and the kids are going to be blown away at how good his live show is.... It should be fun."

"Yep, he's still got it," wrote the Austin American Statesman about another of his live performances, his recent SXSW show. "...and he proved he's still got more, more, more" (3/18/05).

Idol himself welcomes the opportunity to get his new band out there with the other VANS WARPED TOUR bands, since as he has said, his live show features old elements of his sound with twists in the new music. "Why not" he asked. "I'm risking it all over again in the clinch, in the trenches, showing people the energy of Generation X - the rock of Rebel Yell, the mix of the Greatest Hits - all inside Devil's Playground."

The VANS WARPED TOUR presented by Samsung and Cingular Wireless - is an all-day punk rock summer camp featuring the best in underground, independent and free-minded music and action sports. Some of the bands confirmed for this year's tour include: Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold, Dropkick Murphys, Fall Out Boy, Hawthorne Heights, Motion City Soundtrack, MxPx, My Chemical Romance, Senses Fail, Strung Out, The Bled, The Explosion, The Matches, The Offspring, The Starting Line, Thrice, Transplants, Tsunami Bomb and Underoath, among others.
