LONDON, UK (www.porcupinetree.com) - Acclaimed cult rockers Porcupine Tree are crossing the Pond mid-May in celebration of their upcoming new album Deadwing due in stores May 3rd. The British quartet kicks off a highly anticipated North American tour beginning May 13 in Washington D.C., continuing on through June 11, ending in the Los Angeles area. Former King Crimson founder and avant-garde guitarist Robert Fripp will open for Porcupine Tree on various west coast dates. Additional openers will be announced soon.

Ever the pioneers, Porcupine Tree remain true to their love of technology. The bands upcoming tour, sponsored by Panasonic, will utilize state-of-the-art audio and video projections. Porcupine Tree's un-equaled dedication to audio advancement will undoubtedly change the future of the concert-going experience and allow fans to hear and visualize music in a technologically superior fashion.

Porcupine Tree's upcoming new album Deadwing, produced by principal songwriter/guitarist Steven Wilson, will be released just prior to the tour kick-off. The album, scheduled for release on April 26, features the first single "Shallow." The in-your-face track is enjoying substantial radio play at multiple formats including Alternative and Active Rock. Billboard cites the song as, "chock full of proggy goodness...could be the most straight-ahead song the band has created."

Porcupine Tree is comprised of Steven Wilson (lead vocals, guitar), Richard Barbieri (keyboards), Colin Edwin (bass), and Gavin Harrison (drums). Together as a band since 1993, the band is one of the U.K's most respected, pioneering underground forces with a following that spans the globe. Finding themselves consistently at the top of the British indie charts, the band has toured extensively in Europe selling in excess of 350,000 albums worldwide.
