SANTA MONICA, CA. (Revolution Studios) - "Seasons of Love," the first single from the Warner Bros. Records soundtrack to Revolution Studios' upcoming film "Rent," will be available for purchase exclusively on the iTunes Music Store on August 2nd, it was announced today. "Seasons of Love" will be available for download for $0.99. In addition, users will be invited to watch exclusive footage from the film set to the song.

"Rent," which stars many of the members of the original Broadway cast, will be released by Columbia Pictures in select cities on November 11th and nationwide on November 23rd. The soundtrack from Warner Bros. Records will be released in the fall on iTunes and in retail stores. Users who purchase the soundtrack from iTunes will be able to download bonus materials.

Based on Puccini's classic opera La Boheme, Jonathan Larson's revolutionary rock opera Rent tells the story of a group of bohemians struggling to live and pay their rent in the gritty background of New York's East Village. "Measuring their lives in love," these starving artists strive for success and acceptance while enduring the obstacles of poverty, illness and the AIDS epidemic. One of the longest running shows on Broadway, "Rent" was the winner of the 1996 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, the Obie Award, the New York Drama Critics Circle Award, four Tony Awards and three Drama Desk awards.

"The iTunes Music Store is the perfect venue to release the first single from 'Rent'," said Revolution Studios partner Tom Sherak. "With iTunes' rapidly growing user base and their ability to reach our targeted demographic, it is a fantastic way for us to promote 'Seasons of Love' and gain awareness for this incredible film."

"Rent" is directed by Chris Columbus and stars Rosario Dawson, Taye Diggs, Wilson Jermaine Heredia, Jesse L. Martin, Idina Menzel, Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp and Tracie Thoms. The film is being produced for Revolution Studios by Jane Rosenthal & Robert DeNiro and 1492 Pictures' Chris Columbus, Mark Radcliffe and Michael Barnathan.
Revolution Studios was formed by Joe Roth in May 2000 to independently produce and finance films in partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment, Starz Entertainment Group and Fox Entertainment Group.
