LAS VEGAS and HOUSTON (Clear Channel) - The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) and Clear Channel Entertainment Properties today announced Chad Kroeger, lead singer of Nickelback, will join rock greats, Gene Simmons, Dave Navarro and Jerry Cantrell at the second annual Vegas Rock Star Poker Tournament on August 25th-27th, 2005 at The Palms Casino Hotel Las Vegas.

Multi-platinum selling Nickelback will be performing at Rain Nightclub at The Palms on August 25, one night before the highly anticipated Vegas Rock Star Poker event. During the performance, Nickelback will be giving away two free seats to lucky fans to play against these rock greats at the exclusive invite-only Rock Star Poker Tournament.

"We're excited to be performing in Vegas and be able to reward lucky fans to play at this rockin' Poker event!" said Chad Kroeger, lead singer for Nickelback. "We can't wait to feel the energy and excitement of playing for our Vegas fans."

Winners and their guests will thrill to the excitement and unpredictability of playing side-by-side with four of the most animated and talented artists in the music world. The weekend begins with a tutorial to get players game-ready by tournament host and world renowned poker expert Phil Gordon from Celebrity Poker Showdown, followed by a private "meet and greet" session with Simmons, Navarro, Cantrell and Kroeger. After the tournament, the winners will attend an exclusive after-party in the infamous Real World Suite at The Palms. The 2,900-square-foot, three-bedroom suite has become the most sought after high-roller suite in town.

Winners will be chosen from registrations at the tournament's official Web site -- https://www.vegasrockstarpoker.com -- and from winners of radio promotions in New York, Chicago, Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The sweepstakes began July 5 and continues through August 15, 2005 -- the top prize is $10,000.

About Chad Kroeger

Songwriter, performer, producer, label executive, entrepreneur -- Chad Kroeger is truly a renaissance man in the world of rock and roll. Front man and primary songwriter for multi-platinum selling Canadian group Nickelback, Kroeger has led the band from a small town in Alberta to the very peak of international stardom with chart-topping instant classics such as "How You Remind Me" and "Someday", and millions of albums sold all over the world.

Kroeger's Midas touch has also extended to his endeavors outside of Nickelback. As a solo artist, Kroeger had success with "Hero", a song featured in the blockbuster movie Spiderman. He followed that success up with the smash hit "Why Don't You and I" found on Carlos Santana's album Shaman". He helped launch the career of the band Default by co-writing and producing their platinum debut "the fall out". As co-founder and co-owner of 604 Records, Kroeger has developed numerous artists including Theory of a Deadman, whose award winning debut LP he produced and co-wrote.
With the release of a new Nickelback record later this year, Kroeger and Nickelback are set to continue their success for many years to come.
