BURBANK, CA. (Maverick/ Reprise Records) - Story Of The Year, the St. Louis-based quintet whose 2003
Maverick Records debut album, "Page Avenue," was one of the most conspicuous success stories in recent musical memory, will release their second album, "In The Wake Of Determination," on October 11th.
Produced by Steve Evetts (The Cure, Hatebreed, Saves The Day, Dillinger Escape Plan), "In The Wake Of Determination" features Story Of The Year's new single "We Don't Care Anymore." Kevin Kerslake (Nirvana, Rolling Stones, Prince, Green Day and Red Hot Chili Peppers) has been tapped to direct the music video for the band's first single. The album also includes such riveting original tracks as "Jarhead," "Stereo," and "Five Against The World," which reflects on the band's successes and accomplishments over the past two years.
Comprised of Dan Marsala (vocals), Ryan Phillips and Phillip Sneed (guitars), Adam Russell (bass) and Josh Wills (drums), Story Of The Year has been touring virtually non-stop since the release of "Page Avenue," which is near platinum thanks in part to the breakout hit single and video "Until The Day I Die." The band subsequently opened for Linkin Park, as well as headlining their own dates, with top billing on this summer's Warped Tour. The group's incendiary live performance was recently captured on the CD+DVD "Live In The Lou / Bassassins" released May 10th and featuring two special concerts in the band's hometown, as well as their acclaimed "AOL Sessions" performance.
Taking time from their whirlwind international touring schedule, Story Of The Year began an intensive writing regimen in preparation for their new album. "We pretty much got together in the winter and just started working it like a 40-hour-a-week job," Marsala says. The result, "In The Wake Of Determination," was recorded in Chicago and St. Louis earlier this year and reflects the intense new sonic dimension of the band's live sound. "Live, we always played heavier than our first record actually sounded," Marsala explains, "so we wanted to try and capture our live sound on this record. We knew exactly what we wanted to do and how we wanted to come across. We were just really determined, so it seemed as if the title worked really well. That was our mindset the entire time."
Following the release of "In The Wake Of Determination," Story Of The Year will return to the road with a series of concerts in Europe, Asia and Australia as part of this fall's International Taste Of Chaos Tour.
