(By Rick Gershon/ Warner Bros.) - LESS THAN JAKE, Gainesville, Florida-based punk/pop mainstays, will perform a special, intimate club show in their hometown to raise funds for Hurricane Katrina relief. JR (horns) explains, "We recorded half our last record, 'Anthem,' in New Orleans. We basically fell in love with the city, made great friends there and adopted it as a home away from home. When we saw the destruction and pain going on there because of Katrina, we felt we had to do something. This benefit show seemed like the best thing to do where we could raise some money and give back to a place that's very special to all 5 of us." The show, under the banner of "Oh Katrina #2," will take place this Sunday, September 18, 2005 at Common Grounds, located at: 210 SW 2ND Ave., Gainsville, FL, 32601. Phone: 352-372-7320. Tickets for the event are $15.00 and are available in advance at Smoke, located at: 1007 University Ave., Gainsville, FL, 32601. Phone: 352-379-7670. Local support provided by Savage Brewtality. Additional artists may be added to the bill. The local Lowe's Hardware store of Gainesville will match the amount raised from the event dollar for dollar with 100% of the proceeds benefiting those in need. Please come out and lend your support.
