Music Australia) - Well people it's been a long time coming but we may all finally listen and look.
After months of music making and merriment in the City Of Angels, Wolfmother proudly present "Mind's Eye" ... five minutes of psychrock grandeur for your aural pleasure.
It's been said that this song is moodier and more epic than the Sydney band's self-recorded debut EP which got lots of ink last year. And that may well be true; it debuted on Australian radio this week so you can judge for yourself.
This sprawling musical moment was recorded with the help of master producer D Sardy - Dandy Warhols, Jet, Hot Hot Heat, Oasis - and it's the first taste of Wolfmother's album which is due to land in Australia on October 30.
"Mind's Eye" may already be familiar to those of you who've shared the live Wolfmother experience. It's often the climax of the trio's show ... a brooding trance that's suddenly punctured by an inspired solo keyboard followed by a sonic avalanche.
On October 16 "Minds Eye" will be released on CD and 7 inch vinyl if you'd like to eventually take one home with you.
The disc version will also include a whole new version of "Woman". The original recording from last year's EP is no longer gettable but it made the upper reaches of Triple J's Hottest 100 and yes it's up for "single of the year" at this year's ARIA's.
Wolfmother are currently playing their way across the globe. After a sold out gig at LA club, Spaceland they appeared at ArthurFest alongside the Black Keys and Sonic Youth. This week they played the CMJ festival in New York City and a number of UK shows. This Friday the 23rd they are playing their last UK show as part of the Modular Party which is at Cargo in London.
And the good news doesn't stop there people. After four months of recording and touring overseas, Wolfmother will soon embark on a series of live experiences to happen in most of the musical places around our land.
Sharing nearly all of these evenings will be The Mess Hall ... yes.
