Superstar Ricky
Martin announced that his worldwide concert tour will kick off on November 15 in Mexico City, and continue throughout Latin America, before arriving to the US, then
Europe and traveling around the world in 2006 and 2007. Martin's album, LIFE is available in stores October 11, 2005.
VISA Presenta Una Noche Con Ricky Martin is the name of the Latin American leg of the tour (VISA presents One Night Only with RICKY MARTIN), and it will surely be a night to remember. Martin's decision to kick off his long awaited return to the stage in Latin America with first date at Mexico City's renowned Auditorio Nacional will not come as a surprise to those who have followed his long and distinguished career. Nor will his decision to end the first leg of the tour in his native Puerto Rico.
"Where else could I start the tour but at home? Latin America to me is in my blood, soy boricua. Puerto Rico is my home and Latin America is very special to me for many reasons. The concept of this tour is to return to the place where it all began and be one with the audience, to be accessible, to share my music with my fans directly. We decided to go for more intimate venues than I have played in the past for one reason...to reconnect, to create a very special moment with each audience in each country and make it a night to remember.
We will finish the first leg of the tour in Puerto Rico, I mean, where else? But it is not the end of the tour.... we are only beginning....I will be back!! " said Martin. "I am very happy to be working with such a renowned company as VISA on my Latin American tour."
Una Noche Con Ricky Martin, Martin's Latin American run, presented by VISA, will take him to 10 countries in a four week period, including Puerto Rico, Mexico, Brasil and others (see list below for dates and cities). VISA International will sponsor stops on the Latin American Tour. Details of Martin's continuing touring schedule for 2006 and 2007 will be announced in the coming weeks. "We are proud to support such a renowned artist as Ricky Martin across Latin America. Through initiatives like this, VISA, the number one payment system brand, strives to bring our consumers in the region the best in entertainment", said Maria Cristina Abella, Senior Vice President of Brand Marketing for VISA International, Latin America and Caribbean Region. "Our partnership is one more way in which VISA wants to connect to stakeholders while encouraging them to live life to its fullest, a message reflected in our latest advertising campaign."
In addition to announcing the tour, Martin announced that a portion of the value of each ticket on the tour will be donated directly to the Ricky Martin Foundation to fund its programs, including Life for the Katrina Children Relief Fund (to continue to support those affected by the Hurricane Katrina), People for Children (Martin's ongoing efforts to help fight child trafficking internationally), RMF Tsunami Relief Fund (Martin's partnership with Habitat for Humanity which builds houses for those affected by Tsunami in Thailand) and various other local ongoing programs in Puerto Rico and throughout Latin America. "The Ricky Martin Foundation is dedicated to helping those who are the most vulnerable among us, the children of the world. When we all work together, we can make a difference. Thank you in advance to all those who will make a contribution to a child's future simply by attending my shows," said Martin.
