NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Brad Paisley made a surprise appearance for the family that will be highlighted on the next "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" episode which will air Sunday, Oct. 2 (8:00-9:00pm ET) on ABC Television Network. The Barrett Family of Peyton, CO consists of Mom, Dad, two biological children and four adopted children and had completely outgrown their farmhouse and were the recipients of the makeover. The Barretts used to be real life "horse whisperers," handling disobedient horses but now they are raising and adopting children that have been deemed "unmanageable." With unending amounts of love, patience and discipline they've guided their adopted children to become productive members of the family.

The Barretts' favorite artist is Brad Paisley - and much to their surprise he came to Colorado to sing "He Didn't Have To Be" as part of the show. The step-father theme of the song is a perfect fit. Within minutes of Paisley's plane landing, a storm moved in from the Rockies with major wind. As Paisley made his entrance into the rodeo arena (where the performance taping was happening) with show host Ty Pennington, he started to sing "He Didn't Have To Be," and a gust of wind blew off his cowboy hat. To keep his hat on his head, Paisley stuffed a couple of one dollar bills under his hat and they worked like a charm.

After his performance Paisley asked if could visit the makeover site - which he did and they put him work along with the rest of the construction crew. Some of his physical labor will appear in the show as well as the performance.

Paisley's current single "When I Get Where I'm Going" was the most added new single at country radio this past week. Dolly Parton adds her vocals to the powerful song and message. "This is a song I recorded for my aunt who passed away last year. She was very close to me and I think anybody who's lost someone can relate to this song," says Paisley. "One of my aunt's favorite singers was Dolly Parton - so it just all makes sense for her to be singing on this record."
