(Charlie Peacock Official Website) - GRAMMY-Award winning producer and pianist Charlie Peacock unveiled his first-ever jazz album Love Press Ex-Curio this past
September 20th featuring an all-star cast of jazz luminaries such as trumpeter Ralph Alessi, saxophonists Kirk Whalum, Jeff Coffin (of the Flecktones) and Ravi Coltrane, as well as bassists Victor Wooten and
James Genus, guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel and drummer Joey Baron. Also showcased on the album is drummer Jim White, sonic manipulators Myles Boisen and Gino Robair, guitarist Jerry McPherson, electronica mavens Tony Miracle and Kip Kubin (Venus Hum), and Tower of Power Hammond B-3 organist
Roger Smith.
Peacock, a top songwriter, producer, and performer in both the pop and gospel arenas for over 20 years, has been a lifelong fan of jazz and improvised music. Love Press Ex-Curio is a welcomed musical detour for Peacock. 'I think this record is a departure in the terms of public positioning more than anything; not from where my mind and heart is at,' he comments, 'because I've been making improvisational music my whole life. It's just that now I'm focusing it all into one cohesive project.'
Love Press Ex-Curio, recorded in both Nashville and New York City, features nine songs that combine modern day pop production with Peacock's strong affinity for early ‘60s jazz. The set list includes originals like 'When Diana Dances,' 'Super Jet Service,' Dodo's Whim,' 'Be Well Johnny Cash,' 'Frank The Marxist Memorial Gong Blues,' 'Bucketachicken,' 'London Twist n' Turn,' 'Longing For Louis,' and 'All Or Nothing Grace.'
Along with an extensive media, radio, and internet campaign, Peacock will take Love Press Ex-Curio on the road this fall. The tour is slated to visit his hometown of Nashville, with stops in New York City, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Seattle and Portland, OR, Sacramento, Oakland, and Los Angeles, CA. Love Press Ex-Curio will be available for purchase via mainstream retailers including Borders Bookstore and Tower Records, as well as various independent stores and online retail stores.
Peacock's professional recording career began in 1984 with his debut pop
