LOS ANGELES (UMe Records) -
Bryan Adams and
Def Leppard are taking their enormously successful co-headlining "DOUBLE SHOT OF ROCK TOUR" indoors. Two of the most popular rock acts to ever take the stage teamed up this past spring and summer to perform at minor league baseball stadiums across the country. This fall they will rock the masses in major arenas from coast to coast.
Def Leppard and Bryan Adams, combined, have sold more than 100,000,000 albums worldwide. Each has released a new "greatest hits" collection with newly recorded tracks. Def Leppard's Rock Of Ages: The Definitive Collection (Bludgeon Riffola/Island/UMe) was released May 17, 2005 and made a phenomenal debut in the top 10 of the charts. The band's biggest-ever "best of" album and the first two-CD set in the group's legendary career, it will soon be joined by its companion DVD, Rock Of Ages - The DVD Collection, released Oct. 25, 2005.
Adams also welcomes the biggest retrospective of his career and his first two-CD collection with Anthology (A&M/UMe), released Oct. 18, 2005. The package features not only hits but also two new recordings, most notably "When You're Gone" with pop culture idol (and fellow Canadian) Pamela Anderson and "So Far So Good," which not-so-coincidentally was the title of his first 1993 quintuple platinum greatest hits disc. The next leg of the "DOUBLE SHOT OF ROCK TOUR" kicks off Oct. 11 at Boston's Agganis Arena and wraps up Nov. 12 in Irvine, CA at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre. In between, Adams and Def Leppard perform at venues in the East, South and West. Sandwiched between the East Coast and West Coast, Def Leppard will also headline a handful of dates on its own tour supported by Cheap Trick.
Def Leppard's place in music history? Only five rock groups can claim two original albums selling 10,000,000+ copies each in the U.S.: The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Van Halen and Def Leppard. The British band's blockbuster Pyromania hit No 2 and 10 times platinum; Hysteria soared even higher-No 1 and 13 times platinum-led by the No 1 single "Love Bites." The retrospective Vault has sold 7,000,000+ copies worldwide.
Adams' meteoric rise began when his album Cuts Like A Knife landed in the Top 10. This was soon followed by the No 1 charting Reckless. His career has taken him around the world countless times as fans fill arenas and festivals to hear him play such rock 'n' roll favorites as "Summer Of '69," "Run To You," "18 'Til I Die" and "Somebody." The record holder for the longest running No 1 hit in British chart history (16 weeks) Adams has had four No 1 singles as well as a Grammy and an impressive array of Oscar and Golden Globe nominations, American Music Awards and Juno Awards. Also an accomplished photographer, Adams' current body of work can be seen in his new book, Calvin Klein - American Women.
