(Creativity in Music) - KAREN COBB's Voice Shines on R&B, Jazz, Hip-Hop CD "Where It Begins"

"She knocked by socks off. This lady has pipes. She has soul. She has style." -Ed Munson, Desert Daily

"Cobb has a voice that is reminiscent of an early Donna Summer meets Bonnie Pointer, with just a dash of Gladys Knight." -Shane Bruce, Blade Music

"'When I Look at You' is a ballad that sounds like something Whitney Houston would love to wrap her vocal cords around. However, Cobb does a stellar job on this song, so Ms. Houston, hands off!" -Charlie Vaughn, The Blade

Karen Cobb is a singer, songwriter and producer who has just released her much-anticipated third album "Where it Begins". The CD is available at Cobb's official web site www.karencobb.com. Karen's style is a fusion of Pop, R&B, Jazz and Hip Hop. Her previous CD's "Happy" and "It's All About Me" displayed her signature approach to singing and performing. Now part of the MAV Records family, Karen and her fans can look forward to her music reaching new levels.

Born in Bellflower, CA., Karen has always taken pleasure in working a crowd. Inspired by Bonnie Raitt, Whitney Houston, Billie Holiday and Mother, Beverly Cobb-Karen began her singing in church at an early age and took advantage of every opportunity to take center stage. Karen is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.

Over the years Karen has won hundreds of singing competitions and titles including, Orange County Entertainer of the Year.

She has performed with Lainie Kazan ("Beaches" and "The Nanny"), Kevin Flournoy ("Big Mountain") and the Jeff Harris Company. She also created a cabaret duo with pianist Johnny English and her own one woman "Diva Show".

Through her many Hollywood connections, Karen has also had the opportunity to meet many of her idols and other celebrities including Aretha Franklin, Smokey Robinson and Patti LaBelle, each has been very supportive of Karen's career.

Earlier this year, Karen also conceived and produced a television pilot. She is currently seeking distribution for the reality program that focuses on the struggles and successes of an up and coming diva.

About the Album:

"Where it Begins" consists of six original songs and four covers of classics done her distinct way with a mix of Jazz, Pop, Funk, Gospel and Rock.

Karen's newest compilation strikes a beautiful balance in stories of losing and gaining love. The hot single "Issues", written by Karen, tells the story of a woman's emancipation from a difficult relationship. "Issues" has been compared to the sassy stylings of "Respect". Juxtaposed to "Issues" is a cover of the intimate "At Last".

The title track "Where it Begins", about a couple recognizing love, is contrasted with a Jazz rendition of "I Will Survive". Perhaps the crest of balance on this album is found in the dance version of "Natural Woman" to a Rock performance of a new song, "Your Way".

Upcoming Karen Cobb Events:

Karen Cobb has plans for an extensive winter tour in support of " Where It Begins". Presently, she will be performing at The Paradise in Long Beach, CA on Dec. 4th, 11th and 18th and at Blame It On Midnight in Palm Springs, CA on Dec. 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th.
