NEW YORK (AP) - R&B crooner Brian McKnight is currently prepping for the second leg of his Sears-sponsored North American tour. The singer's latest set, Superhero, was certified gold for sales of 500,000 copies. One of the more interesting cuts included on the set is "Don't Know Where To Start," McKnight's collaboration with West Coast crooner Nate Dogg.

McKnight shared with us how this atypical collaboration came to fruition. "This is what happened. I wanted to mess around with some West Coast and I wrote that whole song, did my own track, did the whole thing. And then I said, 'OK, this is Brian McKnight's version of what West Coast is in my head, which is not what it is.' So then I called my friend Battlecat and said, 'Battlecat listen to this tune and give me the hottest track you can give me.' He did that. Then I came in and I re-sang it, the way it should be sung with him producing it so that I knew it would be authentic."

McKnight continued, "Then I said OK what can I do? Get Daz and Kurupt? No Snoop? No. Ahh..Ahh..Ding! Let's see what Nate can do with this. It'll be different, it's not rap but it's singing. I called Nate and was like, 'Nate, come on down. Let me see if you could...?' He agreed, that was it. That was it. It's nice to have friends, let me put it that way."
