London, UK (Sony BMG Music Entertainment UK) - The band have been nominated for a 2006 Brit Award in the 'Best Rock' category. Shortlists were announced today, and Kasabian go up against Franz Ferdinand, Hard-Fi, Kaiser Chiefs and Oasis.

The category will be decided by a public vote, which begins tomorrow (Jan 11th) and runs through until Jan 29th, through Kerrang!; for more details, see www.brits.co.uk. The awards themselves take place on Feb 15th, at Earls Court in London. Kasabian are currently in the studio working on their second lp.
