BURBANK CA. (By Jim Baltutis/ Warner Bros. Records) - Two of rock music's most important bands have elected to hit the road together for a Spring co-headlining jaunt across North America. Warner Bros. Records' Avenged Sevenfold and Columbia Records' Coheed And Cambria have been praised repeatedly in the music press for their musical innovation, as well as their ability to captivate a live audience. With grand stage productions and lively comparisons to legendary rock acts, both bands' combined energy on the same stage is sure to endear them to many new converts, while earning the tour soon-to-be legendary status. It's a huge musical moment for the two most forward-thinking bands in rock today.

When Avenged Sevenfold announced their Cities Of Evil Tour last fall, they embarked on a musical tour-de force that began in October and continues even now, as the band returns to Los Angeles for a giant sold out homecoming show at the Gibson Amphitheatre on Friday, February 17. The album, "City Of Evil," for which the tour has supported, is now gold in status, due in no small part to the bands' energetic live performance, arena production values, and their ability to convert new fans at every show. The gold triumph is just one of many, as the band continues to redefine the rock genre as of late, storming MTV, radio, the road and the press with reckless abandon. For proof, see the recent Alternative Press cover which sold thru on newsstands everywhere, as well as the upcoming April cover of Revolver magazine, on stands Feb 21. Both outlets delve deep into what makes this band rock harder than any other at the moment.
The success of "City Of Evil," coupled with the prior release of two critically acclaimed albums, "Sounding The Seventh Trumpet," and "Waking The Fallen," along with over six years of near constant touring has seen the band's rabid fan base embrace everything Avenged Sevenfold says, does and creates. As its legion of fans grow every day, those devotees will soon get a closer glimpse of Avenged Sevenfold when they unleash their first DVD later this year, documenting life on the road and at home.

Chapman BaehlerCoheed is on their own steady rise to stardom. Building a rabid following since 2001's "Second Stage Turbine Blade," the band has stacked their loyal admirers, a tower cultivated brick by brick, achieving Gold Status with their sophomore release "In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: Three" upon a foundation that is awe inspiring. The accompanying DVD, "Live at the Starland Ballroom," has also gone Gold.
This tour, in support of their new near-gold album "Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume 1: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness," includes a 14-foot functional guillotine, full stage props and intense projection imagery, borrowing from singer Claudio Sanchez's 124-page graphic novel that reveals the story behind "Good Apollo." Seeing Coheed live is an experience that harks back to 70s arena rock, but with an energy more aligned with post-punk rock and roll.

Both bands have extensive touring history between them in the States. Avenged has participated in four Warped Tour treks, while Coheed has been on two. Both artists have several U.S. headlining tours under their belt, and this co-headlining effort will surely be the most groundbreaking yet for each artist.
