NASHVILLE, TN (SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT) - One of the top newcomers of 2005,
Blaine Larsen is putting the finishing touches on his new album, and the lead single, 'I Don't Know What She Said,' has just arrived at radio stations across the country.
The song finds an American on vacation in Mexico, and while he may not have much of a grasp of the native language, he likes the way the young senorita is speaking to him. Of the new single, Blaine said, 'It's a fun, up-tempo song, and it's an opportunity for me to show the fun side of my personality.'
On tour with Gretchen Wilson and Van Zant as part of the 'Redneck Revolution Tour,' Blaine has had the opportunity to perform the song before a revved-up audience. 'The song goes over great live, and it's so exciting to be on this high-energy tour and see the vision of our shows come to life,' he reveals.
As for Gretchen, Blaine says, 'She is awesome! She's been great to me and the guys in the band. She's been such an incredible sounding board and really, a teacher. She's taken me under her wing. I like the way she deals with people, straightforward. You know where you stand, and I like that.'
Recently, Blaine celebrated his 20th birthday while on the road, and during his show, Gretchen walked on stage with a birthday cake. 'It was really cool. We were about halfway through our show, and out comes Gretchen with a birthday cake with candles a-blazin', and she had the whole crowd sing 'Happy Birthday.' It blew me away,' Blaine recalled, with the excitement still in his voice.
As the tour continues through the spring, Blaine will finish recording his sophomore album which is set to be released this summer. Check out www.blainelarsen.com for an up-to-date tour schedule.
