NEW YORK (SONY BMG) - With eight nominations, pop superstar,
Shakira leads the list of nominees for the next Latin Billboard
Music Awards show and Sony BMG roster. The awards, which recognize the artists' music released during 2005, will be given out on April 27th in Miami, and will air via Telemundo as a closing to the Latin Billboard
Music Conference, which begins on April 24th.
In addition to Shakira, the pop nominees include Chayanne, La 5ta Estación, Reik, Frankie J, Ricardo Arjona, Ricky Martin, Olga Tañón, Marc Anthony, Ana Gabriel and Reyli, in categories that distinguish not only their success but abundant radio airplay.
In the tropical genre, Víctor Manuelle, Gilberto Santa Rosa, El Gran Combo and N'Klabe, are added to the Sony BMG nominee list. Moreover, the regional Mexican category has the legendary Vicente Fernandez as a nominee alongside Sergio Vega and Beto Terrazas, while in the rock genre, Jaguares and Julieta Venegas have also been nominated. Representing Sony BMG, in the Latin Christian category, is Marcos Witt.
