Sydney, AU (EMI MUSIC AUSTRALIA) - Corinne Bailey Rae is touted as one of the brightest stars set to emerge from Britain in 2006, and this week's fantastic UK No 1 album chart debut confirms that she is well on her way.

The Australian release for Corinne's self titled debut album is Saturday March 18, and the beautiful clip for Put Your Records On' is the 4th most played video across all 8 MTV channels in the UK.

Inspired as much by Björk and Massive Attack as, say, Jill Scott, Corinne went into the studio and came up with her debut album. Full of tiptoeing delicacy and wraparound warmth, Corinne's voice merges the spirit of Billie Holiday with the statuesque soul of Erykah Badu. Even a cursory listen will tell you that its creator is something rather special. It is in Corinne's own words, "a little bit of everything: it's chilled out, acoustic, kooky, atmospheric and soulful'.

Not only is Corinne's voice a unique and touching instrument, but the sheer quality of her song writing and deft lyrical touch prove that Corinne is a remarkable talent who is only just starting out on what will be a very long and interesting musical journey.
