NEW YORK (By Gary Davis/ World Wrestling Entertainment) - Michelle Williams, known for her successful solo career and for being a member of the multi-platinum group Destiny's Child, will perform "America the Beautiful" at WrestleMania 22 in her hometown of Chicago.

On Sunday, April 2, WWE will present WrestleMania 22 at Rosemont's Allstate Arena before a capacity crowd of more than 15,000 people from 16 countries and 43 states.

WrestleMania 22 also can be purchased on pay-per-view through local cable affiliates or satellite providers, and will be seen in more than 90 countries.

This is Williams first time performing at WrestleMania. She joins an elite club of recording artists who have sung "America the Beautiful" at WWE's annual pop culture extravaganza, including Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, Willie Nelson, Reba McIntyre, Little Richard, Ashanti, Boyz II Men, and the Harlem Boys Choir.

"Michelle has proven to be a tremendous performer and entertainer as a member of Destiny's Child, and as a solo artist. WWE is honored that she will join us at WrestleMania 22 to perform such a signature patriotic song to our country, and I look forward to Michelle being a part of this historic event," said Neil Lawi, General Manager, WWE Music Group.

As a member of Destiny's Child, Williams, Beyonce Knowles and Kelly Rowland were one of the all-time biggest selling female groups with combined record sales of more than 50 million records worldwide.

In April 2002, Williams became the first member of Destiny's Child to have a solo project released. "Heart To Yours," Michelle's contemporary gospel collection, reached No. 1 on the Top Gospel Albums chart. She landed a stint co-hosting the Stellar Awards, recorded a duet ("Steal Away To Jesus") with gospel legend Shirley Caesar, and embarked on a national tour with Luther Vandross and Angie Stone. Williams then tackled Broadway, earning rave reviews after replacing Toni Braxton in the lead role of "Aida" in November 2003. William's second gospel album, "Do You Know," reached the No. 2 slot on the Top Christian Album chart and No. 3 on the Top Gospel Albums chart shortly after its release in January 2004. Williams is signed with Music World Music/Sony Urban Music/Columbia Records
