Brentwood, TN (Sparrow Records) - sixstepsrecords artist/worshiper Chris Tomlin, previously nominated for nine 2006 GMA Music Awards ("Dove Awards"), added a tenth one to that list this week when the Gospel Music Association announced its final nominees for Songwriter of the Year.

Tomlin, who co-wrote the chart-topping songs "Holy Is The Lord" and "How Great Is Our God," is nominated alongside Mark Hall (Casting Crowns), Mac Powell (Third Day), Laura Story (who wrote the Tomlin-performed hit "Indescribable"), and Christa Wells.

"The Songwriter of the Year is an important honor in gospel music. We congratulate these nominees for their songwriting success in the past year, and more significantly, for the many lives they touched with their songwriting gifts," said John W. Styll, president of the GMA.

Tomlin, whose ARRIVING album recently reached the certified Gold sales mark (500,000 copies), is also nominated for Artist of the Year, Male Vocalist, and several Song of the Year and Worship Song honors. He also contributed to a Special Event Album nominee, MUSIC INSPIRED BY THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE.
The 2006 GMA Music Awards ceremony will be held April 5 in Nashville, Tennessee, and televised in national syndication April 15 - May 21. Check here for a complete list of nominations.
