Brentwood, TN (Sparrow Records) - NEEDTOBREATHE, the South Carolina rock band releasing its debut, Daylight, on April 4 via Sparrow Records and Atlantic/Lava Records, is already receiving the best reviews of any act so far this year.
CCM magazine writes, "Simply put, Daylight is so deep on potential rock radio singles, this disc would make a good 'best of' album for a lot of other bands. (Did I mention this is a debut?)"
Aspiring Retail declares, "Daylight is like a shot of espresso in the morning - a quality album that could revive both radio and retail...a perfect balance of edgy high-energy guitar rock with polished alluring melodic hooks...intelligent lyricism exhales honesty and addresses spirituality."
"...already a standout album of the year," writes Christian Retailing. "A moving rock collection that begs the listener to turn out the lights, turn up the volume and soak it in."
On Course says, "The debut from NEEDTOBREATHE should be an instant favorite for fans of melodic modern rock. The band deftly combines its sense of musical style to its lyrics, creating an addicting, infectious listening experience."
AlMenconi.com goes further by saying, "Daylight will frustrate you if you're looking for a weak link - one tune after another brings out great hooks and demands to stick in your head. Suddenly the album is over and you still haven't found a sub par song."
Featuring a hook-filled sound that's comparable to recent breakthrough artists like Maroon5 and The Killers, NEEDTOBREATHE has built a sizeable independent fan base and performed shows with Switchfoot, Jason Mraz, Everclear, and many others. Daylight was recorded in England with producer Andy Green (Keane). The disc's first single, "You Are Here," is now playing at Christian and general market radio stations nationwide.
Notably, the band is led by brothers Bear and Bryant "Bo" Rinehart who are named after the legendary Alabama college football coach Bear Bryant. While Bear holds several all-time football records at Furman University, and Bryant had a part in the feature film Radio starring Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Ed Harris, both brothers have opted instead to pursue their passion for making music.
NEEDTOBREATHE also includes drummer Joe Stillwell and bass player Seth Bolt who add much to the band's recordings and high-energy concerts.
