NEW YORK, NY (Columbia Records) - David Gilmour fans were surprised and delighted this evening by an unannounced appearance by David Crosby and Graham Nash during the first of two concerts launching Gilmour's eagerly-awaited On An Island North American Tour at New York's Radio City Music Hall (full itinerary follows). Joining Gilmour and his band on-stage, Crosby and Nash added their trademark vocal harmonies to a live version of the title track from Gilmour's best-selling On An Island album. Crosby and Nash recorded the title track for the album, released on March 7, at Gilmour's recording studio housed in a boat on London's River Thames. The David Gilmour touring ensemble includes guitarist Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music and co-producer of On An Island); keyboardist Richard Wright (Pink Floyd); bassist Guy Pratt (Pink Floyd, Roxy Music); keyboardist Jon Carin (Pink Floyd); and drummer/percussionist Steve DiStanislao (Crosby & Nash). Marc Brickman, who has worked with Gilmour on many Pink Floyd tours, has designed the lighting for the intimate venues chosen for this tour.
