NEW YORK (By Tracy Zamot/ Virgin Records) - One of the dance/electronic field's most creative and defining bands over the past decade, Virgin Records duo DAFT PUNK is releasing its first career retrospective, the CD/DVD double-pack "DAFT PUNK MUSIQUE VOL 1 1993-2005," on April 4, 2006.

The special package underscores the breadth of the French conceptualist duo's cutting-edge and provocative work in audio and video over twelve years -- ever since the club success of their first independent-label singles led to the release of the Virgin album, "Homework," which sold over two million copies. The audio CD collects twelve of the biggest Daft Punk hits, including the worldwide No. 1 million-selling single "One More Time," "Musique," "Around the World," and the 2005 U.S. chart hit "Technologic."
In addition, three sought-after Daft Punk remixes of singles by Scott Grooves, Ian Pooley and Gabrielle complete the picture of the innovative and unpredictable production style of the duo (Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem Christo).

On the DVD, ten hit Daft Punk video clips, directed by the likes of Michel Gondry, Spike Jonze, Seb Janiak, and Roman Coppola, among others, are supplemented by two unreleased videos, "Prime Time of Your Life," and "Robot Rock Maximum Overdrive." Jonze's video for "Da Funk" drew the first of Daft Punk's Grammy nominations; in addition to others in the Dance and Pop Instrumental categories, Daft Punk was most recently nominated for Best Electronic/Dance Album in this year's Grammy Awards for the 2005 album "Human After All."
