NEW YORK, NY (By Sheila Richman/ Atlantic Records) - Atlantic Records producer Jim Jonsin was named BMI Songwriter of the Year at the performing rights organization's 6th Annual Urban Awards ceremony. Jonsin - who was also named to BMI's Top Urban Producers list - shared the Songwriter of the Year honors with Mariah Carey and with Big D, his former partner in the Unusual Suspects production team. Jonsin had three songs on the BMI Urban Awards' most-played list: " Let's Go" by Slip-N-Slide/Atlantic artist Trick Daddy, and " Grind With Me" and " Your Body" by Blue Star/Atlantic recording group Pretty Ricky. In late 2005, Jonsin entered into an exclusive in-house production and label deal with Atlantic Records for his newly established Rebel Rock Productions and Rebel Rock Entertainment companies. Through the pact, Jonsin is now producing a range of artists for Atlantic and its affiliated labels, as well as working to develop new talent for Rebel Rock. Jonsin is currently riding the top of the charts with smash Bad Boy recording group Danity Kane, having produced a pair of tracks on their No 1 debut album - including the first single, "Show Stopper." He is also at work on new Atlantic album projects from Trick Daddy and Pretty Ricky. Jonsin's many credits include producing hit songs for such artists as Twista, Trina, Cee-Lo, Bonecrusher, Pitbull, and Jamie Foxx.
