NEW YORK (Billboard) - Russian pop boy band Na-Na! will soon bring its pop music to an American audience via Access Records, a new label founded by dick clark productions. Na-Na! - comprised of Vlad Politov, Pasha Sokolov, Vova Asimov and Slava Zherebkin - has sold more than 60 million albums and performed more than 3,000 sold-out concerts in its homeland, according to a statement.
The act has received seven of Russia's Ovation awards, including the best pop group of the decade honor at this year's ceremony. Access hopes to release the group's U.S. debut early next year. Last month, Russian culture minister Mikhail Shvydkoi proposed to Yuri Koptev, head of the country's space program, that a member of the group be put into space, according to the Izvestia newspaper. "Their healthy optimism, stability and sense of tradition could be a symbol for young Russians," Shvydkoi was quoted as saying.
