(www.Forbes.com) - Kurt Cobain catapulted onto Forbes.com's sixth annual ranking of Top-Earning Dead Celebrities (www.forbes.com/deadcelebs) in the No. 1 spot, knocking Elvis Presley out of the top spot for the first time since the list's inception. Cobain (who earned $50 million from October 2005 - October 2006) and the 12 other icons on the list collectively earned $247 million in the last 12 months. Also new to the list this year: Albert Einstein.

The sixth annual ranking of 'Top-Earning Dead Celebrities' assesses the earning power of deceased celebrities, including musicians, actors, authors, songwriters and composers, among others. This year's list (earnings in millions):

2. Elvis Presley $ 42
3. Charles Schulz $ 35
4. John Lennon $ 24
5. Albert Einstein $ 20
6. Andy Warhol $ 19
